Community‑Engaged Archaeology with the Tz’utujil Mayato Approach the Submerged Cultural Landscape of LakeAtitlán (Guatemala)

This recent and long awaiting study, funded by Unesco, published in the journal of Maritime Archeology, maps the southern lakebed of Lake Atitlan using sonar technology. The largest and most notable site, and the target of the study is the submerged preclassic maya site, Samabaj.
